Caring for Your French Flax Linen: A Simple, Gentle Guide

Caring for Your French Flax Linen

A Simple, Gentle Guide

Your Selah + Stone linen is designed to bring a sense of calm, comfort, and effortless beauty to your home. And while it’s naturally durable, a little thoughtful care will help preserve its charm for years to come.

Washing Your Linen

  • Our linen is pre-washed for softness and longevity, which means it’s ready to use straight out of the bag.
  • Use a gentle machine cycle with cool or lukewarm water (30°C max)
  • Wash with like colours to maintain tone and avoid colour transfer. Keep your linen separate for the first wash
  • Avoid harsh detergents, bleach, or fabric softeners—these break down natural fibres
  • We recommend a gentle liquid detergent, diluted with 50% water—even when using a front loader. Never pour detergent directly onto fabric

Drying Tips

  • Tumble dry on low heat to avoid shrinkage or fibre wear
  • Line drying is even better and more eco-friendly (but not recommended for our Quilted Blankets—see our Quilted Blanket Care Guide)
  • Remove promptly from the dryer to minimise creasing

The Natural Charm of Linen Wrinkles

Unlike synthetic fabrics, 100% French Flax Linen has a relaxed look that doesn’t need to be pressed. That slightly rumpled texture is part of its beauty—and part of the story your linen will tell as it softens with age.

Storing Your Linen

If you’re not using your linen right away, store it in a cool, dry place in its breathable pouch. Avoid sealed plastic, which can trap moisture and lead to mildew.

Long-Term Care

  • Linen gets better with age—it becomes softer, more fluid, and even more breathable
  • Rotate between multiple sets to reduce wear on any one piece
  • Wash only when needed—airing them out between uses works wonders

With these simple steps, your Selah + Stone linen will only grow more beautiful—and more beloved—with time.
